In the 1800s there was an active contingent of celebrated Americans who raised money and gave speeches to send black people back to Africa. The Back to Africa movement was pretty large and even encompassed some black people (ex-slaves) who agreed (sometimes for different reasons) that they didn’t belong in American society and would be better off going back home. Very few actually did.
In general though the movement wasn’t manned by out and out racists (they for the most part advocated slavery as a societal good for everyone), it was manned by people who who would have self-identified as realists who couldn’t see a successful blending of the races in America. I’ll just let that hang there for a moment of self-reflection, so we can all silently sigh and momentarily give into our most pessimistic fears to concede they may turn out right in the long run.
They share the conventional right wing view that European nations will lose their identities (as Christian and white) with the influx of migrants (mixed religion but definitely darker) coming to their shores escaping civil war, famine and persecution.
“Our goal is to step in where our politicians are failing and to do what is necessary to stop the deadly illegal migration into Europe,” according to the IB website. “An invasion is taking place. This massive immigration is changing the face of our continent. We are losing our safety and our way of life and there is a danger we Europeans will become a minority in our own European homelands.”
They see the bad guys here as the NGOs and coast guard rescuers who help these migrants (who are 15% children) safely reach European land. They assert that they don’t want the little brown babies to die, but they should be rerouted, safely, back to the death traps they’ve escaped.
In his YouTube video, Sellner also made clear his group’s objection to the flow of migrants into Europe. “If you invite the whole of Africa, you don’t have Africa,” he said. “You become Africa.”
I mean no offense, I don’t want you to die, but you belong in your hell hole. How will it help anybody if you turn my nice prosperous country into another hell hole? If you survive all of this you’ll see, I’m making sense.
When people say we’re more alike than we are different I have to wistfully agree. People suck everywhere.
